GRIFF-LOCK is an active electromechanical vehicle immobilizer. As an active system, GRIFF-LOCK has been created to prevent your car from being stolen, unlike passive systems such as tracking systems based on GPS or radiofrequency (RF).
GRIFF-LOCK has several components installed in strategic points of your vehicle. Most security systems are installed into the cabin or behind the dash, but GRIFF-LOCK has been designed as a layered system. First layer is the mechanical solenoid module under the hood; second layer the electronic theft deterrents in the cabin. This combination of electromechanical components is the difference between GRIFF-LOCK and the competition.

Definitely, NOT. Nobody knows if GRIFF-LOCK is installed because all components are located in the engine compartment and behind the dash. This way, thieves cannot take preventive actions trying to circumvent the system.
GRIFF-LOCK’s user-friendly design provides simple operation. The auto arming feature allows total user peace of mind; it automatically arms the security system 30 seconds after the ignition system is turned off. To disarm the system, the customer enters the vehicle and once a valid key is read, GRIFF-LOCK will disarm. The customer can start the vehicle. If this step is not followed and you try to start the car, the horn will sound (if this feature is connected) as a deterrent.
GRIFF-LOCK uses low frequency (RFID) technology, operating at 125kHz read frequency and the estimate read distance is about 2-5 inches (short range).
The average installation time is between 2 to 3 hours depending on installer’s skill level. Exotics cars may have a longer installation process.
Yes, the only exceptions are electric vehicles (EV) and hybrids. GRIFF-LOCK is widely compatible with passenger cars, vans, trucks, SUV’s and vehicles equipped with 12 to 24 volts. Vehicle’s age is not a factor.
GRIFF-LOCK has been designed to be a part of your vehicle and does NOT require any maintenance or adjustments. The system must be replaced only: After an accident, if it has sustained engine or starter motor damage. In case of starter motor replacement or vehicle electrical system damage.
No. Unlike tracking systems, GRIFF-LOCK is an autonomous system and doesn’t depend on any network such as GPS, RF or GPRS technology, so there’s no hidden cost or maintenance fees.
Definitely not. The system is totally wired, so thieves cannot read, jammer, grab or overcome the system unlike the original keys (OEM), tracking systems and all wireless devices emitting a signal that can be easily by-passed by a professional thief.
Yes. We take security very seriously, so all the information from/to the main controller is encrypted using AES-256 bits.
The circuits interrupted by GRIFF-LOCK include both the electronic fuel pump and the ignition circuit. All electrical connections are made in the engine compartment and behind the dash and are connected in and through the factory wiring harnesses. Since there are no exposed wires, a properly installed GRIFF-LOCK is virtually impossible to detect and very time consuming to trace because all the wires are the same color (black).
The system is virtually impossible to circumvent due to how the system has been designed based on several lines of defense (layered system). First layer is located under the hood, our solenoid module is connected close to the starter, acting directly on the power source and controlling the power supply. Our second line of defense is placed behind the dashboard. The circuits interrupted by GRIFF-LOCK may vary from application to application. Typically, they include the electronic fuel pump, the ignition circuit and the starter circuit.
GRIFF-LOCK is based on the same principle, simplicity and efficiency but we have improved the concept. Most immobilizers only interrupt one point. GRIFF-LOCK has been designed to interrupt several critical vehicle’s circuits located both in the engine and cabin. The components used in the manufacturing of GRIFF-LOCK are all made in the US are of the highest quality and tested for performance. Reliability is a must and an absolute. In fact, a major selling point of GRIFF-LOCK is its superior performance against that of competitive products. GRIFF-LOCK is superior to all the other alarms and anti theft devices, the reason for this is that GRIFF-LOCK is so simple to use, there are not any codes to remember and there are no secret buttons to push. Whenever you leave your vehicle, the system will be auto-armed 30 seconds after the ignition system is turned off. Many new car buyers do not want all the bells and whistles associated with today’s alarm systems because they know that no one pays attention to them. How many times have you heard an alarm going off and noticed people just walk by, minding their own business?
Each system comes with two RFID keys.
Yes. GRIFF-LOCK has been designed to meet the Automotive EMC regulations (Electromagnetic Compatibility) and CE conformity marking. The system is currently been evaluated by other Certification bodies. Certification expected to be completed in late 2014. EMC regulation is managed mainly through the European Commission’s EMC Directive (89/336/EEC, subsequently revised as 2004/108/EC).
